In several days, the Czech police will start distributing flyers to foreign drivers. According to the statistics, last year they caused 7689 accidents on roads with 48 lethal outcomes. It accounts for nine percent of all victims of the road accidents, which were recorded last year in the Czech Republic.  Zuzana Pidrmanová, Head of the Prevention Department of the Police Presidium of the Czech Republic, stated that awareness and responsibility are required for every driver in their home country and foreign countries, as well. The police will present the papers in English, German, and Polish languages to drivers on the roads during the usual traffic checks. The Czech branch of the World Health Organization criticized the Czech government’s response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic on Monday, which incited a response from Prime Minister Andrej Babiš. “[The] Situation in the Czech Republic is concerning at the moment. Data shows elevated and growing levels of transmission across many regions and districts,” wrote the branch in a public Facebook post. “Among 55 parties to the International Health Regulations (2005) in the WHO European Region, Czech Republic is on the 16th place in terms of 14-day incidence of Covid-19, which is an increase of 75% in comparison with the previous two weeks. Last Tuesday night, Czech president Miloš Zeman broke his right arm in his Lumbe’s villa in Hradčany. He got immediately hospitalized in the Central Military Hospital in Prague and underwent a surgery. Mr. President is already transferred into a standard room from a post-operative ward, where he was recovering after the surgery, Novinky.cz reports. He is expected to be released during the weekend, and his recovery time should take approximately 6-8 weeks.
