Friday night’s Euro 2020 qualifier ended with the arrest of 18 English fans, and a 2-1 defeat, as violence erupted near the city centre. Prior to the start of the match, visiting English fans threw bottles at local police, who in turn used stun grenades to subdue the gathering. Video eventually surfaced showing the moment in which police overcame the men in an easily recognized courtyard near Old Town Square. The video shows police in full riot gear, while roughly ten men are laid on the ground, hands behind their backs. UK officials have repeatedly urged traveling English fans to drink responsibly and behave accordingly. However with the match starting late in the evening, fans from both sides had plenty of time to imbibe and become unruly. All 18 English fans have since been released from police custody.
