With the fall of the first leaf, autumn knocked at the door of Prague’s streets with its main character—the pumpkin. We are excited to indulge ourselves with the legendary taste of pumpkin spice latte, pumpkin pie with cream on top, and pumpkin soup with some pieces of bacon.
But where to get the pumpkin for all these goodies, or to see the most fabulous pumpkins in town? We have a solution for you: visit the Prague Botanic Garden and its fabulous autumn-inspired exhibition, Pumpkin Autumn.
The installation runs from October 14, 2022, to October 30, 2022, from 9 AM to 7 PM.
Pumpkin Exhibition: a Quick Overview
Pumpkin Autumn is one of the favorite events hosted by the Botanical Garden, with its burst of various colors, experiences, and spooky events such as Halloween.
“Autumn is the most colorful time of the year, and nature plays with various colors that no painter can mix. We will bring you closer to this colorful palette at the popular pumpkin exhibition,” said event organizers.
The Botanical Garden perceives pumpkin not as a food but rather as an integral element of autumn with its colorful shades of orange. That is why you can find many workshops on how to do some mystical arrangements with a pumpkin, thanks to the Academy Mělník.
Exhibition Programme
Visitors will also have a marvelous chance to take part in the decorations prepared by the Botanical Garden and take some autumn-savvy pictures. The rumor says that all the decorations are designed to be in the Celtic period. So, it will be like a real time-machine!
Our little visitors will be the main focus of the workshops. “They can paint on pebbles, make paper pumpkins, create their fashion pieces, or play with leaf prints,” confessed Botanical Garden representatives.
While children are busy getting creative, adults can enjoy the milled wine and the magical spirit surrounding the event.
Special events at Pumpkin Autumn
Pumpkin Autumn did not come to us unprepared. In fact, they organized two special events that we can say are integral to the ultimate autumn experience.
Visitors can attend pumpkin games on the weekend of October 22-23, 2022. During the event, you can play around with pumpkins and run wild. “All that matters is skill and courage,” emphasized the event organizers.
On top of that, you will have a chance to buy some presents for your loved ones, including pumpkins!
Another event that caught our attention is Halloween on October 30, 2022. Visitors could enjoy the holiday by following All Souls’ Day and old Celtic traditions. You can expect not only delicious food, just roasted on the grill for you, but also an authentic fireplace, a musical program, and a special parade.
The Botanical Garden guarantees the event to be spooky, with lots of attractions for kids. Treat or trick!
Farmers’ Corner
There will also be a unique competition held for pumpkin growers and farmers. In particular, you could compete with others on the base who have the most giant pumpkin.
You can visit the event’s official website for more details on how to enter the competition.
Tickets
We highly encourage you to buy e-tickets for the event as you could save lots of money with this option. We will fight inflation like this!
For adults, the entrance fee is 135 Kč (150 Kč on the spot), whereas, for children and students, the ticket will cost 85 Kč (100 Kč on the spot). You can also take your dog to the event for a small fee of 100 Kč (both online and offline).
Getting here
The easiest way to get here is by driving a car or taking the bus. If you decide to take the bus, hop on the 112 bus from Nádraží Holešovice. The route is pretty popular, and buses depart every ten minutes.
Enjoy!
