Each year, popular travel website TripAdvisor culls millions of ratings from their worldwide database to come up with the best-reviewed selections in their annual Travellers’ Choice Awards.

The Travellers’ Choice Awards select some of the world’s top locations in a number of categories, from hotels and restaurants to the overall top destinations around the globe.

In just-released rankings for 2018, Paris has earned the ranking of the world’s top destination, unseating Bali, which has fallen down to number #4.

London, Rome, and Crete round out the top 5.

And coming in at #7 is our very own Czech capital, Prague, which has moved up two positions from #9 in 2017.

Still, the ranking is one position below Prague’s 2016 high of #6.

“The bohemian allure and fairytale features of Prague make it a perfect destination for beach-weary vacationers who want to immerse themselves in culture,” the TripAdvisor description, unedited from the 2017 list, states.

“You could devote an entire day to exploring Prazsky hrad (Prague Castle), then refueling over a hearty dinner at a classic Czech tavern. Spend some time wandering the Old Town Square before heading over to gape at The Old Town Hall and Astronomical Clock. Prague’s best bars are found in cellars, where historic pubs set the scene for a night of traditional tippling.”

While European destinations dominated the top 10, with seven of the top selections, Asian cities were best represented among the top 25, with 10 of the top choices (Istanbul, which ranks ninth in the list, is technically split between the two continents).

New York City, at tenth on the list, was the only North American destination in TripAdvisor’s top 25.
