Freedom alas! With Prague slowly opening back up, everyone is fancy to get out of their apartments to go support their favorite shows, bars, and shops. But it’s important to stay safe and still be cautious, so don’t forget to bring your mask to one of the exciting events happening in Prague this week (with some virtual events thrown in as well to appease those who prefer to err on the side of caution). You can celebrate already today with a return to one of Prague’s celebrated symphonic venues, and catch a lineup of classical musician’s playing scores from Mozart and Beethoven.

(Virtual Film Discussion) Aaron Sorkin: The Trial of the Chicago 7 hosted by The Guardian. Tickets start at 6 pounds.

Have you caught the star-studded Netflix feature The Trial of the Chicago 7 yet? If names like Eddie Redmayne and Oscar Isaacs don’t catch your attention, then Oscar-Winning writer Aaron Sorkin should certainly lure you into this breathtaking account of true events. Sorkin earned immense acclaim after writing for shows like The West Wing and The Newsroom, and introduced himself into the film industry with hits like The Social Network and Molly’s Game. At this behind-the-scenes look at the making of the political drama based on events in America following protests outside the Democractic National Convention in 1968, Sorkin will dig into his process while also answering questions from the audience.

December 7th to 13th:

Street Theatre Festival mainly at Prague Market Hall.

Catch this week-long festival featuring puppeteering, street entertainers, musicians, artists, and as the organizers repeatedly tease to many surprises. You can catch the majority of events happening at Prague Market Hall and at different public transport stops around the city (so keep your eyes open this week!).

December 8th:

(Virtual Seminar) The Crackdown on Human Rights in Hong Kong presented by Amnesty International.

At this in-depth seminar hosted by Hong Kong activist and journalist Gwyneth Ho, she dives deep into the democratic fissures erupting in Hong Kong society following the ejection of herself and other democratic candidates from entering the political scene. With activists being persecuted and barbaric laws imprisoning those expressing their need for a fair and empathetic government, Ho offers a frontline look into what’s happened and what she predicts will happen to her home in the near future.

December 11th:

Advent Market in Karlin from 8:00 to 18:00.

The Christmas season is upon us – and it’s time to get out to support local businesses, buy a toasty cup of medo-vino or hot wine, and enjoy one of the many holiday markets springing up around Prague. Catch this one in Karlin Square only this Friday!

December 12th – 13th:

Dyzajn Winter Market in Holesovice from 10:00 to 19:00.

This is not your average Winter Market. Chock-full with top of the line designs on sale flaunting the trendiest bohemian fashion, you can discover new paintings and portraits as well whether you’re in the market for a new decoration in your living room or just wanting to stroll through their selections. Catch the Dyzajn Market just this weekend in Holesovice.
