Join the 23rd French Film Festival Online: Week 1

Starting on 19 November, film lovers and Francophiles alike are invited to join the 23^rd French Film Festival in their first-ever online event. At 20:30 (8:30 pm) from 19 November to 25 November, The French Film Festival will hold screenings of seven different films utilizing the Dafilms.cz platform.

In addition to the seven film screenings, festival guests will have the opportunity to watch the documentary, Solo,directed by Artemio Benki. Not to mention, there will also be an additional five short films available for free.

From 19 November to 22 November the French Film Festival will be screening:

19 Nov – Aznavour by Charles (Le regard de Charles) directed by Marc di Domenico

This documentary is compiled of footage shot by Charles Aznavour on a camera given to him by the singer, Édith Piaf, in 1948. A genre-defining musician himself, Charles Aznavour impacted both the musical and film world with his marvelous singing style, songwriting, and acting. Aznavour by Charles is a diary-like recording that allows the viewer to explore Charles Aznavour’s life.

20 Nov – All Hands on Deck (À l’abordage) directed by Guillaume Brac

A drama-comedy that was director Guillaume Brac’s return to fictional filmmaking, All Hands on Deck follows the charming story of Félix and Alma, who meet serendipitously and spend the night together before Alma must return to her family vacation. Of course, the story does not end there, as Félix and his ragtag team of friends surprise Alma on her holiday. This film follows the characters as their plans unravel.

21 Nov – Woman directed by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, Anastasia Mikova

In this documentary film, directors Yann Arthus-Bertrand and Anastasia Mikova examine the state of women in modern society and how it reflects upon the state of humanity. With the belief that women are the best way to indicate a culture’s condition, this worldwide project that spans 50 countries takes a close look at women’s lives to share hope and love to women everywhere.

22 Nov – Summer of 85 (Été 85) directed by François Ozon

Director and writer François Ozon delves into the themes of young adult relationships, adventure, and death in this nostalgic coming-of-age fictional film. It takes place in the summer of 1985 in Normandy and follows the story of 16-year-old Alexis and his new best friend, David. This beautifully shot film is partly based on the novel Dance on My Grave by Aidan Chambers, which François Ozon first read in his own teenage years.
